Multiple issues with Figma plugin

In the past week, we faced countless issues with the Figma plugin.

  • Auto-link existing strings usually does not work. The values wont be found even if visible in the list of available strings and the text being the same
    This can be fixed (but not without issue) by selecting Create missing keys and Merge duplicates . They strings already existed so none is created but at least it links them.
  • When we link strings, it sometimes work, sometimes it says its linked but it doesnt. So if you come back to the file and filter by linked keys you will not find anything. This is frequent and we had our designers spent an entire day refreshing all strings (1200) only to have a few actually linked
  • When generating screenshot, it is incredibly long. And this is only happening if the page has many designs. So lets say the page has 100 screens and i ask to generate a single screenshot, it will take at least 3min per screenshot.
    This is solved by moving screens in their own page and generating the screens. That is because i believe the way the screenshot is generated is taking a screenshot of the entire page and then crop it. If not i dont know what could cause this.
  • Sometimes the checkboxes at export time are not applied. You can uncheck “send screenshot” and still have them generate. This usually happens when selecting lots of screen because the plugin lags so much the entire page freeze for a minute or two and it breaks forms.

So all in all, we have tested on multiple network, multiple OS (mac and windows) the app and the web, and it almost never work properly and we spend most of our day looking at the neverending loading screens that result in doing nothing.

We have received an update from our developers that we are planning to make a considerable update to the Figma plugin, which should fix these issues.

As for the following issue: When generating screenshot, it is incredibly long. And this is only happening if the page has many designs. So lets say the page has 100 screens… , could you please share some more details, like video recording and your .fig file, to support@crowdin.com so that we could check?

Do you have any timeframe for the plugin update ? Because if its going to be in 6month its too far for us and we might as well just change tool.
