Intento translations failing

I have configured Intento on the account, using the correct API key and custom routing name, both of which I can confirm work correctly on other systems. However, I am getting a “request to MT engine failed” for every segment. It’s not clear why this is. Any ideas?

Hi there,

Please check Project tools → service logs, there should be a detailed response on why the action failed. Also, it’s worth checking user/API key permissions for MT. It should be manager/owner/admin (if it’s the Enterprise version).

Some tips to troubleshoot the issue from the side of the Intento:

  1. Verify your Intento subscription is active and supports the used MT engines.
  2. Test a simpler Intento routing (e.g., with a single provider like Google Translate) to isolate if the issue is within your custom route.
  3. Ensure language pairs are supported by all engines in your route.
  4. Check “Connected Accounts” within Intento if your route uses providers requiring separate authentication.
  5. Examine Intento Console API logs for specific error details.

Let me know if you found something interesting in the service logs or from the Intento side!

Thanks for the advice. This is happening specifically for Portuguese; other languages within this CrowdIn project and Intento routing are working as expected. I have checked the subscription, the routing, and the language pairs, and all looks fine.

The error is always “Invalid translation: null”, so I’m assuming there’s something wrong with what’s being sent through to the model.

Could you please contact us directly (support@crowdin.com) via email and share more details, such as a link to your project and the exact MT settings you’re using in Crowdin? This will help us investigate the issue more effectively.

I do not have direct access to the configuration since it is the client’s project. I am also following up on this with Intento in case they can shed any light. If that does not bear fruit, I will advise the client to contact support.
