The current owner of the project is leaving the project. How can we change ownership of a project?
Hi there,
In general, due to technical complexity and security reasons, there is no easy way to directly transfer project ownership from one account to another in Crowdin.
The recommended approach is to change the account credentials (email and password) as follows:
- The current account owner should log in to Crowdin and set a temporary password.
- Share the account credentials (username/password) with the person who should take over the account.
- After the new owner logs in, they should change the email linked with the account to their own address and set a new password.
- A confirmation URL will be sent to the new email, and following it will link the new email address with the account.
Alternatively, you can migrate the project data by downloading and re-uploading the source files and translations to a new project under the new owner’s account.
Hope this helps!
What happens if the current account owner has disappeared and no way to contact them or they cannot log in to change anything due to lost password or email access. Can you authenticate a new owner manually based on their github credentials (owner of the related github project, etc)
Hi @scrubbbbs,
You can contact us via email (support@crowdin.com), and we will discuss this internally due to security reasons.
